In order to make their residents
feel more at home, the administrators of Hitz Memorial Home
wanted to create a more residential feel. They began with an
inviting entrance with a warm wood door and flooring. Also in
the lobby are comfortable sofas with throw pillows and
patchwork quilts. A snack area with warm oak cabinetry is just
off the main lobby.
Instead of conventional nurse’s stations, Hitz Memorial Home
chose to utilize tables, chairs and credenzas to complete the
warm “homey” atmosphere. The residents and the nurses feel
more comfortable.
