In May of 2001 Korte & Luitjohan
broke ground on a new, two story Law Enforcement Center for
Marion County. Offices for the Sheriff’s Department and new
jail cells were constructed. As the General Contractor, Korte
& Luitjohan coordinated the work of over twenty-five
subcontractors and suppliers, including a $1.6 million
specialized security equipment package. Korte & Luitjohan also
coordinated the work of the mechanical, electrical and
plumbing contractors to complete this project on time.
The project was completed in close proximity to the existing
jail building and Public Service building with minimum
interruption to daily operations.
The new facility includes an enclosed vehicle sally port area
for additional security while transporting and processing
inmates. The control room consisted of raised access flooring
and specialized security equipment. Korte & Luitjohan self
performed the foundation, slab on grade and elevated concrete
floor placement of the two-story facility.
